WHAT IS A NATIONAL SPORT?

Although some countries have a national sport by law, most countries do not have it, but they have a sport that is the most practiced and popular, such as football, which is the most popular and practiced sport in the world. world.

1- EL PATO (ARGENTINA)

The duck is an equestrian sport originally from Argentina, it was born by the hand of the gauchos who practiced this sport in their stays.

From the time of the colony, and throughout the nineteenth century, the duck was the most popular sport for men on horseback and those in the countryside in Buenos Aires. They used a live duck inside a leather bag with four handles, and it was a very sharp and strong game that led to bloody and dangerous encounters. It was temporarily banned, in 1822, in Buenos Aires, by Martín Rodríguez, and this prohibition was also sustained during the government of Juan Manuel de Rosas. Only in 1938, when it was regulated, did it stop being so bloody.

It was officially declared a national game of that country in 1953 by President Juan Domingo Perón.

Finally, after several years of struggle, on May 31, 2017, the Pato was declared a national game.

2- CAPOEIRA (BRAZIL)

It was developed in Brazil by African descendants with indigenous influences, probably at the beginning of the 16th century. La Roda de capoeira (circle of people making Capoeira) was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO on November 26, 2014.
